Tiraka - How it started
Tiraka started as a Pilot project by Aspire Hub Canada.
The pilot project was called “Talent Incubation Machine” a.k.a “Talent Incubator” for the students participating in the Technology and Life Skills Program (TechPlus) to apply their knowledge to gain experience by working on practical projects for upward mobility. The project was funded by the Government of Canada’s Investment Readiness Program; with support from local industry partners.
After a successful pilot project completion, the project evolved into Tiraka, and was first incorporated in Canada as a non-profit social and technology enterprise, with the goal of bridging the gap between learning and work experience to reduce unemployment/under-employment.
Tiraka started in North America, and has expanded to the United Kingdom and Africa with the goal of bridging the gap between learning and work experience, inspiring innovation and career advancement, while fighting poverty, food insecurity, unemployment, and homelessness.
Tiraka’s mission is to advance education, alleviate poverty, reduce food insecurity, and combat homelessness by empowering underserved populations and low-income communities, while also bridging the gap between learning and practical industry experience. We focus on reskilling and upskilling the next-generation workforce, engaging youth in innovative educational and real-life projects that enhance qualifications, career advancement, and social integration. We foster economic empowerment and lasting stability by connecting individuals to job opportunities, ensuring food security, and addressing homelessness.

The word Tiraka captures the essence of effort, resilience, and the pursuit of greatness and community empowerment. In Yoruba, TIRAKA means “to make an effort or to strive towards achieving a goal.” It represents striving and resilience, embodying a spirit of determination and purpose that aligns perfectly with the organization’s goals. This name is not only a reflection of the cultural roots and heritage of the communities the initiative serves, but it also symbolizes the unyielding commitment required to drive meaningful social change and empower individuals facing systemic challenges. Yoruba is a language spoken by the people of Western Nigeria in Africa
Tiraka uplifts underserved communities through opportunities in education, skill development, and improved economic outcomes. The name Tiraka encapsulates this journey, where achieving greatness is not a single act but a sustained series of efforts that empower individuals to rise above their circumstances. Just as the word implies, striving and resilience, the organization embodies these values by supporting and guiding individuals as they overcome educational and economic barriers. In a society where success often seems inaccessible, Tiraka reminds beneficiaries and partners alike that greatness is attainable through dedication, support, integrity, and hard work.
Furthermore, Tiraka serves as a call to action. It is an invitation to every member of the community, the staff, volunteers, and even beneficiaries, to invest their efforts in creating a brighter future. This name inspires participants in the Tiraka programs and community members to strive for excellence. By choosing Tiraka as its name, the organization is grounding its mission in an ethos of hard work and resilience—qualities that make meaningful, sustainable change possible.
In essence, Tiraka is a declaration of intent. It signifies a pledge by the organization to put forth the effort needed to drive impact and empower those it serves to achieve greatness, especially underrepresented groups and populations from low-income communities, which face numerous barriers to income and economic advancement. It’s not merely about providing resources; it’s about instilling a culture of self-reliance, ambition, and unwavering resolve to foster a better, more equitable society. The word Tiraka isn’t just a name—it’s a guiding principle that drives every program, every partnership, and every act of empowerment.
Our broad objective is to advance education and alleviate poverty, food insecurity, and unemployment/underemployment. We aim to promote investments in the education of new immigrants, underserved populations, and low-income communities, supporting reskilling and upskilling efforts to improve economic and health outcomes. By engaging participants in innovative and meaningful educational projects, we seek to enhance their learning, qualifications, upward mobility, career advancement, and social integration. To alleviate poverty, we facilitate connections to job placement opportunities that help new immigrants and low-income individuals achieve economic stability. Recognizing that household food insecurity often results from limited resources, we address the interconnected challenges of poverty, unemployment or underemployment, and high housing costs, which are major contributors to food insecurity.
